Rose Oil

Rose oil,meaning either rose otto (attar of rose, attar of roses),is the essential oil extracted from the petals of various types of rose.

Rose ottos are extracted through steam distillation, while rose absolutes are obtained through solvent extraction or super critical carbon dioxide extraction, with the absolute being used more commonly in perfumery.

Even with their high price and the advent of organic synthesis, rose oils are still perhaps the most widely used essential oil in perfumery. 

1.Rose oil is traditionally used to uplift and calm. It is cooling,anti-inflammatory, and soothing, and as such is beneficial for dry, inflamed ,hot,or itching skin and for many other inflammatory conditions, like conjunctivitis (although it would be rose water rather than the oil that is used for this).

2.In addition,rose is excellent for scarring, treating broken capillaries and for mature skin types. Rose’s cooling and soothing properties are excellent for treating stress related conditions in adults and children.

3.Rose oil has also been shown to have antimicrobial properties. In one laboratory study Damask rose demonstrated antibacterial activity against 15 strains of bacteria.

4.Stress and anxiety relief

Rose oil is applied to the skin produced a relaxation response greater than that of a placebo oil. People who received rose oil also had a greater decrease in blood pressure and breathing rate than those who received the placebo.

5.Menstrual cramps

Topically applied rose oil (combined with other oils) may also be effective in reducing menstrual cramps, according to a 2006 study of 67 female college students. In this study, a blend containing one drop of rose, two drops of lavender, one drop of clary sage, and 5 cc of almond oil was applied in form of an abdominal massage.

Blends well with rose hip oil:

Rose Absolute generally blends well with all oils, though it works particularly well with Bergamot, Chamomile German, Chamomile Roman, Clary Sage, Geranium, Melissa, Rosewood, Sandalwood, and Ylang-ylang.
